Marbury v. Madison
Established judicial review, judge the Judiciary Act of 1802 unconstitutional, set the precedent for the Court to determine the legality of laws passed by Congress, an important judicial check on the power of the legislative branch.
 
McCulloch v. Maryland
Secured the system of checks and balances. Declared the Bank of the United States constitutional.
1810 Fletcher v. Peck
The first time the Supreme Court judge a state’s law unconstitutional.

Georgia has no right to take away Native American lands; states cannot deal with Native Americans (considered foreign countries) directly.

Dred Scott v. Sanford
Slaves were property and the Fifth Amendment prevented anyone from being deprived of property without due process of law, any law against slavery was unconstitutional. The Missouri Compromise has been unconstitutional. Congress had no right to ban slavery anywhere.
